Leaks are in Abundance
Tis the season for leaks. This last weekend brought a surge of roof leaks in Boise and across the valley with a forecast of more to come. Calls poured in over the weekend as snow melted and rain fell. Fortunately, Upson Company’s Maintenance Department is on call and ready to take on any roof leaks and commercial roof repairs anytime – twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
As the calls poured in this weekend the maintenance foremen along with their helpers left the shop warehouse in trucks armed with the necessary materials to come to the rescue. With cold weather the snow and ice built up, and then when the weather took a turn and things warmed up all the snow build up on the roofs melted, and quickly. Roof drains are designed to accommodate typical water and snow build up on the roof. However, if ice or compacted snow is not melting fast enough in or around a drain because it’s thicker or deeper at the mouth of the drains, it can create a back up across the roof. Such drain blockages allow water to pond on the roof and if there are voids in the roof you will end up with a leak. Hopefully, heat tape is turned on, and if it is and you’re still having a problem Upson Company will be there to fix it for you.
Upson Company operates on the premise that it’s best to take preventative action and get your roof assessed for winter durability ahead of time. Maintenance technicians can still come out and assess your roof and make the necessary fixes, even if they are temporary to get it through the winter and hold it over until spring when a permanent fix can be completed.
