Old Man Winter – Brrr!
He’s here. Old Man Winter has arrived on our doorsteps with chilling wind, colder and colder temperatures, and appropriate precipitation for the winter season. It is undeniable that he’s here to stay until spring.
There is ice and frost on your roofs every morning, which is a slip and fall hazard for even the most sure-footed. Warn your maintenance technicians to be wary if they have to get up on the roof, especially for holiday decorating. Other trades other than roofers, for example HVAC technicians, plumbers or holiday decorators, need to be wary not only of fall hazards up on the roof, but also of gouging the roofing membrane with dropped tools.
Upson Company’s commercial roof repair in Boise and the surrounding areas have seen multiple roof leaks due to dropped tools, crushed Christmas lights, and other careless behavior. Leaks from these causes can be avoided if others are properly warned ahead of time. Unfortunately, Upson Company can’t get the notification out soon enough. It will have to come from the building owner or property manager when they schedule other trades who need roof access when they are working.
By forewarning workers and maintenance technicians prior to allowing them roof access you will cover your liability should you happen to have roof leaks after their work is completed on your roof. Upson Company maintenance technicians are phenomenal about pinpointing the origination of roof leaks and will be able to advise you on what most likely happened to cause the leak in the first place. With that knowledge, you can properly address those you could be responsible and present them with Upson Company’s findings. There’s no reason you should be responsible for someone else’s irresponsibility on your roof.
