Warranties – How prudent is it to pay for warranties?
There is always the question after you decide to purchase if you want to pay an additional fee for a warranty. They ask you at every store when you purchase electronics or appliances. How many of you actually purchased the warranty? And yet an even better question: how many actually needed the warranty but didn’t have it later on down the road?
When it comes to warranties a sound philosophy is “better to have than not need than to need and not have.” When new roofs are put on existing buildings or on new buildings consumers have the option to purchase a manufacturer warranty, which typically ranges from 15 to 30 years, though there are longer warranty options. At Upson Company they advise to purchase the manufacturer warranty for “just in case or what if” scenarios. Recently, Upson Company was roofing a new school in Meridian and the product failed before they could even complete installation. While this could be viewed as an isolated incident things like this can and do happen.
When roofing product fails or doesn’t perform as it was intended commercial roof repairs in Boise and the surrounding area need to be completed and only manufacturer certified contractors can complete the repairs to uphold and continue the original warranty. When Upson Company performs commercial roof repairs for warranty work they also attach a separate workmanship warranty to their work. When roof leak repairs are completed if the roof leaks again Upson Company comes back out to fix it, but this rarely happens as they always fix it correctly the first time.
Purchasing a warranty is always a consumer option and not a necessity, but when you hire Upson Company they give the consumer a workmanship warranty for free.
